Mar 2025 to Feb 2026
After having finished our fourteen months of dialoguing with God and St. Catherine of Siena and twelve months pondering the sermons of John Tauler, we will now spend the next year conversing and going deeper into the mystery of God with the 14 th century Dominican Meister Eckhart (1260-1327). Eckhart offers profound insight into life with God. He is also a great master of language using poetic discourse to bring us to new breakthroughs in prayer and startling expressions to awaken us to the nearness of God. He is a rather creative and provocative thinker who has much to offer when read carefully. He left his mark on such figures as Blessed Henry Suso, John Tauler, Nicholas of Cusa, and a Doctor of the Church Saint Peter Canisius.
Join us on the “Dominican House of Prayer” YouTube channel, the 3 rd Wednesday of every month at 7:30pm (EST), as we ponder about 20 pages from the writings of Meister Eckhart. You can read along or simply show up. Each month, Fr. Ignatius John Schweitzer, OP will give a conference talk, followed by a period of questions and comments from you all. We will begin Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at 7:30pm (EST). It will be live-streamed and also available afterwards: https://www.youtube.com/c/DominicanHouseOfPrayer.
We will be using the Penguin Classics series’ Meister Eckhart: Selected Writings, edited by Oliver Davies (London: Penguin Books, 1995). The list price is $17.00 and can be found on
Amazon.com for $15.30.
